During our vacation in western Washington, we stayed at Comfort Suites Burlington for seven nights with my service dog. The staff member who checked us in, Caleb accused us of lying and scamming when our dog barked and demanded proof that our dog was a service animal, even though it was illegal to do so. He charged us a pet fee, and his behavior became increasingly hostile towards us. On the last day, we discovered that one of our tires was slashed, which we suspected was not a random act. We contacted the hotel's property manager, Scott Turbush, via email to report the issue, but he dismissed our complaint and only offered to refund the pet fee. We hope that the hotel will take the necessary steps to ensure that such incidents don't occur in the future and train their staff to handle service animals with more respect and sensitivity.
